This year I am featuring some Western North Carolina businesses. Each has their own story however we have to think about the long term impacts for their communities and businesses. Many of the towns impacted rely heavily on tourism and with the devastation they do not have the visitors which they relied on. In addition, being a small business some would participate in farmers markets and such which those are not happening as well.
In The Potter's Hands
Asheton is the one behind these incredible creations. Her studio is in the heart of Lake Lure, NC. They were forced to evacuate however luckily their studio received minimal damage. Back story they moved into their Lake Lure studio in September then faced all the devastation around them.

Sparta Candle Co.
As I type this they do have an offer for 10% of sales going to fellow small businesses in WNC. They have distributed thousands of candles to those impacted by Hurricane Helene to provide them light when they've had no electricity. If you're on social media the owner's dad does some really fun, entertaining videos for the company!
