Sharing just in case it helps one person.
As always not medical advice, follow instructions given to you by your provider. However, these are additional tips I tried to ease the discomfort.
The day before wisdom tooth removal, drink some Gatorade & take some Tylenol.
I also took a prebiotic for the 3 days leading up as well.
Lots of water and then more water.
Prepare ahead of time to have soft foods on hand. Some suggestions:
- Eggs
- Mashed potatoes
- Applesauce
- Avocado
- Dairy free Ice cream (see note below)
- Soups
- Yogurt (dairy free see note below)
- Ramen noodles
- Gatorade
- Pancakes
- Tea
- Pasta (not al dente)
- Fruit juices
- Instant oatmeal
- Stewed carrots
- Mashed sweet potatoes
As much as you might want to lay down, by sitting up you can minimize the swelling. And most likely you’ll be advised to keep head above heart anyway.
Extras to have on hand:
- 2 ice packs so you can rotate
- A good lip balm as your lips will get dry. I used Skin & Nail Balm.
- Revival Balm and/or Recovery balm. Use to minimize swelling/inflammation and/or bruising.
I liked this Egg Drop soup (minus the sesame oil, scallions, & msg)
And I brought the holidays in early with pumpkin pie. Just didn’t eat the crust.
Don't forget, drink lots of water!
Thanks for reading! As I mentioned in the beginning I’m simply sharing what I went thru in case it helps one person. If you think this could help someone you know then pass it along.
