Balancing your side hustle with family life can be a little like juggling a million balls in the air while trying to keep a smile on your face - not the easiest thing in the world but it's totally doable!
If you’re considering starting your own business, I’ve got 5 tips to share with you that I have gathered from leading ladies in Direct Sales which has allowed them to enjoy the fruits of owning their own business and still have time for what matters most…family.
- Keep it separate: Open a separate bank account for your side hustle and make sure to keep your business finances separate from your family budget. Trust me, you don't want to accidentally blow your profits on a family trip to Disney World. It makes it a lot easier to know what’s truly coming and going in your business too. Here's an option to set up a free online account so you can manage it from your phone. Click the view.
- Space, the final frontier: Separate your spaces and create a designated work area for your side hustle. It does not have to be anything fancy, there are ladies working out of their closets! This way, when you're in work mode, your family will know not to disturb you and vice versa. Bonus points if you have a secret hand gesture to signal "I'm working, don't disturb!"
- Routine, routine, routine: Establishing a routine is key to balancing your side hustle with family life. This will help you to stay organized and on track, and your family will know when it's time for work and when it's time for play. Here's a great 4 Quarters Productivity Hack I shared awhile back. Click to read.
- Get some fresh air: Get outside each day, even if it's just for a few minutes. Taking a break from work can do wonders for your mental health and creativity. Plus, it's a great excuse to go on a treasure hunt or play a quick game of tag with your little ones.
- Get the whole gang involved: Involve your family in your side hustle. This not only helps with balance but also gives them a sense of pride and ownership in your work. You could even make it into a fun family project and see who can come up with the best marketing strategy!
Balancing a side hustle with family life as a mom takes a little bit of creativity and a whole lot of determination. But with these tips, you'll be juggling work and play like a boss in no time. Happy balancing, mama!
