Monetize Your Social Media

When uncertainty hits the economy, so many of us start looking for ways to add additional streams of income as a safeguard…makes sense, right? More and more, people are turning to social media as a way to make money. And why wouldn’t you?! No bra required. Endless snacks from the kitchen. Not much traffic from your bedroom to your desk. Sounds like a good plan to me!

If you’ve toyed with the idea of using social media as another income stream, I want to share a snippet of some trainings I’ve learned as an online business owner! Whether you’re starting a career as an influencer, a small-business owner, affiliate, or a social seller, like me, these tips are the difference between a ho-hum biz that never really gets off the ground and one that creates a substantial, stable income for you!

1. Post Regularly: The more often you post, the more you display a consistent presence online. In other words, the more your followers see you, the more trusty-worthy you are!

2. Interact with Your Followers: Live videos, replying to DMs, hosting giveaways, and answering questions are great ways to engage back with your community when they’re engaging with your content. Interacting with your followers allows them to get to know you on a deeper level and relate to you.

3.Show the Good and Bad: Social media really feels like a highlight reel sometimes. Everyone wants to show their best selves online, but that doesn’t always come off as authentic. We all have successes and failures in life, so being honest and transparent is an amazing way to build rapport with your audience. In reality, showing the good and bad on social media is a great way to show you’re human. Not only is it relatable, but it’ll help a lot of people feel less alone.

5. Post User-Generated Content: User generated content means content that your customers create! Did they share a picture with your product? Post it! Did they DM you a sweet message about your product or service? Turn it into a testimonial! Not only does that take some content-creation off your plate, your followers love to see feedback from other customers. You might want to consider creating a specific hashtag associated with your brand.  You can also make templates for people to re-use on their Instagram Stories.  Even something as simple as posting the “comment of the week” on your profile can show your followers that you hear them and appreciate their support.

Sure, some people use social media to post beautifully coordinated photographs but others use social media to connect with like-minded people and build a community. Sharing your opinions and real-life experiences online has never been more important, so now is the time to start being yourself and embracing who you are on social media.
