Take a Behind the Scenes Tour of Lemongrass Spa Home Office

A quick weekend trip to Florida allowed me to take a behind the scenes tour of Lemongrass Spa Home Office. Since 2002, they have been handcrafting, packaging, and shipping out safe, healthy products for us to enjoy from head to toes.

Though a lot has changed since it started in 2002 inside Heidi & Bryan Leist's home they still stick to their mission of leaving out the toxic, junk fillers found in bath and body products today.

First up a quick glimpse of the outside and a few spots inside the buildings.

More hands on experience for all, a sampling of a few of the raw ingredients which on into a variety of products.

The Cupuacu Butter was a hit with many for being a very smooth, hydrating feel.

Cupuacu Butter: natural emollient, rich in antioxidants, fatty acids, and vitamins. Native to South America (Amazon Rainforest).

We got to see some of the processes which make the magic happen!

Here Jeremiah is mixing & hand pouring Cactus & Guava Body Polish.

My name along with 8 other ladies were drawn to get a fun hands on experience!

We were able to fill a jar of Sunkissed Coconut Body Icing.

First we had to suit up!

While we were there they were also hand pouring the January exclusive Hair Stick. This would be a similar process for all the Balms and Deodorants.

After products are created they head on over to get their date stamp. If you've been around awhile you remember the colored stickers which were notorious for falling off.

Around 2022, they upgraded to a machine which prints on the Date the Product was Made plus the Best By Date.

Like food products the Best By Date is not necessarily an expiration date. It means it's past it's prime, however in many causes can still be used. I know I've used lotions and a few other products after that Best By Date. Similar to food give it the look, feel, & smell test or if all else fails reach out to me! However if you are using the products every day you'll most likely run out before that date any way.

Now products are ready to be labeled.

Did you know the designed on each label were hand drawn in house? A few years back when they got a face lift that was one of the unique features added.

Here's a look at two ways labels are added; by hand and by machine.

After the product is labeled they make their way to the shelves to be packed up in orders. Since products remain made in small batches there are not tons of products sitting in a warehouse.

Lemongrass Spa does offer over 400 products so at first it looks like a lot of products on the shelves yet as we walked down the aisles we noticed all the individual products.

From the shelves, there's a team which pulls items for each order which comes in. Then it goes on to the shipping team which packages them up with those cornstarch packing peanuts!

As she mentions team members can pack up to 170 boxes a day. On average the team is shipping out over 1,000 boxes each day (well Monday - Friday, sometimes Saturday especially during the holidays).
