Preventing Hair Breakage

There are few things sadder than hair breakage, especially when you’re working hard to grow it out.

But aside from the obvious, like avoiding excessive heat, there are a few simple things you can do to prevent hair breakage.

1. Stop overbrushing your hair. The old wives’ tale about 100 strokes can actually be damaging to your hair. Brush gently and don’t over do it.  Try using a hair mist so the brush glides thru more gently.

2. Never go to bed with wet hair. Wet hair is actually really stretchy and fragile. Your best bet is to sleep with your hair in a braid or soft scrunchie and use a silk pillowcase.

3. Blot and squeeze hair dry using a microfiber towel or even a cotton T-shirt to help prevent breakage and frizz.

4. Apply a hair mask treatment once a week. A hair mask is full of hair-strengthening and repairing nutrients like amino acids, pro vitamin b5, and biotin!
