Charcuterie Board Tips

I love a good Charcuterie board any time! It’s such a fun and beautiful way to present food and it can be a healthy alternative to all the indulgent treats we see during the holidays.

If you’ve always wanted to create one but you’ve been a little intimidated (you’re not alone!) I rounded up some of the best charcuterie tips for you.

  1. Start with your board! Don’t worry about buying a fancy new board. Grab a cutting board or tray from your kitchen. Honestly, any flat surface will work! You can even lay butcher paper on your kitchen island. Be creative!
  2. Add in some small bowls. Jams, mustards, honey, and dips are perfect for a charcuterie board and spreading little bowls across your board adds lots of visual interest.
  3. Add in your meats and cheeses. To keep the interest visually, try using both slices and cubes. Wedges of cheese with small serving knives look really impressive too.
  4. Add breads and crackers. This is a critical building block when your guests start to layer all the flavors. You want something sturdy and you also want a couple of different options – think 2 to 4.
  5. Fill in the gaps with fruit and garnish. Use fruit that’s in season and easy to pick up or grab a variety of dried fruits.
  6. If you have a chocolate lover crowd then toss in a few wrapped chocolate candies too.
